She formed the spin-off girl group Linda, Roos & Jessica, with two other characters from GTST . The groups debut single “Ademnood” ,topped the Dutch charts in late 1995. The only disappointment in this successful year was the release of De Zeemeerman (The Merman); it failed to draw people to the cinemas and was voted the worst Dutch movie ever made.

Katja went on to release singles with both LR&J and on her own. She made hits with Maar nu heb ik er een, Wereldmeid, Totaal Verkocht and Lover or friend. Schuurman had left the GTST-cast by 1999 while LR&J disbanded after the aptly-titled farewell-single “1999 X”.

Schuurman played Frida in the Salou-based movie Costa! in 2000 and found herself reunited with Georgina Verbaan, who played the role of her sister Hedwig in Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden. Costa! premiered and was successful enough to be adapted into a television series, in 2001. She appeared in the first two seasons alongside Verbaan .

Schuurman hosted programs for BNN up to 2008 and NET5 from 2008 to 2014 and from 2014 onwards, she hosted for KRO-NCRV.It was announced in 2018 that Schuurman will return to RTL.

Katja Schuurman Interview

Interview Katja Schuurman: ‘After two and a half years, there is still seldom a day when we do not have sex, and sometimes one day more than once’

In the latest JAN you can read the big interview with Katja Schuurman  about her youth, love and sex. A preview:

About her new love Freek van Noortwijk (chef restaurant Breda):
Katja Schuurman : ‘I want to fully understand him – I want to taste it. We say jokingly: we are the same. ‘

‘With him nothing can be just “normal”, then it’s just a bit boring. So he does super-romantic things. He comes to pick me up on his bike, with a bottle of champagne, nice glasses, caviar, oysters, a few cheeses, a blanket, and then we go somewhere cozy on the water. Freek makes life more beautiful. ”

About sex:

Katja Schuurman :‘My erotic collection is vulgar and lyrical – that’s a good idea, haha’

‘After two and a half years, there is still seldom a day when we do not have sex, and sometimes one day several times. And if we have been intimate again … then it is as if the light has gone a bit extra. ‘

About obsessive compulsive disorder :

Katja Schuurman: ‘We took meringues with me to my mother in the psychiatric hospital, where she was admitted for fear of tainting. I was twelve. I do not know of fears, but I do have all kinds of compulsive thoughts and compulsions. Gehád. Because I now have medication, eh. Depakine, actually an anti-epileptic. It is just something chemical that goes wrong, a flaw; we are simply not the perfect end product of evolution. What I have is difficult to describe. My head is running away. ”

About her image at the time of GTST :

Katja Schuurman : ‘At the Atheneum I was seen as a smart lady, suddenly I was the sex bomb. Very frustrating ‘

About the breakdown of her marriage to Thijs Römer:

Katja Schuurman : ‘My reaction to tearing loose from Thijs was very physical. There were a lot of wine and sleeping pills, and then I was still bouncing ‘

About her unbridled years:

Katja Schuurman: ‘After I was nineteen I had periods that I derailed reasonably well. I had destructive tendencies, which manifested themselves in excessive use of alcohol, and also of drugs. (..) Later I used coke on a shooting day, and then with the door of the dressing room a bit open – so that others could discover it. (..) Living in the fast lane , it sounds tough, only: I could not put myself off anymore. Sleeping only succeeded when I just fell over from the drink ‘

Katja Schuurman wrote these books for a certain age

Updated On: 12 September 2018

Katja Schuurman has written two reading books with a clear mission to teach the readers something.

Cow Dance and The Tractor Race are both stories about the children Daan and Charlie playing on the farm. Schuurman , who lives in a residential farm, wrote the booklets for FrieslandCampina, which launches a big campaign this autumn to teach children more about farm life in a playful way. “I think it’s important that children learn more from the outdoors and how it goes on a farm,” said the presenter.

The illustrations in the two children’s books were made by Harmen van Straaten , who previously collaborated with great writers such as Carry Slee, Jacques Vriens and Fred Diks . Katja’s reading books are given away at certain supermarkets for dairy products in the first two weeks of October.
