Kgomotso Christopher is a South African actor and voice over artist.  She is best known for her time in Isidingo as Katlego Sibeko before joining Scandal as Yvonne. Kgomotso is also the voice behind MTN’s Interactive Voice Response system and serves as a Non-Executive Chairperson on the Naledi Theatre Awards Board of Directors.

Kgomotso attended the University of Cape Town where she did her Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Politics. When she graduated she was awarded the Jules Kramer Award for Fine Arts. She earned a Masters of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts at Columbia University in New York City in 2004 . She continued to live and work in the US and UK until 2008.

Kgomotso made guest appearance on television series Madam & Eve, SOS, Backstage, and Moferefere Lenyalong. She has made appearances in theatre productions of Romeo & Juliet, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet and Dr. Faustus. On November 15, 2018 Kgomotso revealed on Instagram that she is the voice behind MTN’s Interactive Voice Response system.

Kgomotso, and her husband Calvin Christopher have been married for over a decade now. Despite the challenges the couple face, they are each other’s biggest supporters.  Kgomotso who graces the cover of True Love magazine opened up about some of the challenges she’s faced as an actress, which includes emotional and financial stress.

She said that her husband has always been her biggest supporter, despite the sacrifices they’ve had to make along the years.  “I’m blessed that regardless of the challenges we’ve had, we support each other on so many levels – we put each other’s growth first, ” she said.

Currently, the couple is in a long-distance marriage because he was offered a job opportunity in Dubai.  “What that has afforded for our family, is opening the world to us. Travel has become part of our lives. During school holidays we go to Dubai.” She said that her husband would sometimes travel from Dubai every weekend just to be with his family.  “My husband is an amazing dad and when he’s around, he makes sure he’s completely involved.”The couple is proud parents of two children  daughter Larona and son Lesika.

It’s none other than local actress Kgomotso.   The star revealed this secret to fans in 2018 and they were shook.   In a clip posted to Instagram, Kgomotso is seen recording phrases for MTN’s interactive voice response (IVR) system.

“Greetings from the MTN lady who tells you when ‘you have insufficient airtime to make this call’,” Kgomosto captioned the clip. Speaking to The Juice, MTN’s public relations specialist Mthokozisi Ndlovu confirmed that Kgomosto is one of the voices behind MTN’s IVR.

Kgomotso is best known for her time in Isidingo as Katlego Sibeko. She left the show in April 2016. This is a soap opera, with dialogue mostly in English. It premiered on SABC 3 in July 1998 and is broadcast evenings on SABC 3 from Monday to Friday at 19:00. Until 2001 it was titled Isidingo: The Need

The series was created by Gray Hofmeyr. The story is loosely based on another popular soap opera created by Hofmeyr, The Villagers, that was broadcast during the apartheid era in South Africa.

Kgomotso showed early signs of talentin 1996 when she ended as first runner-up in the DALRO National Acting competition . She was a student at the National School of the Arts in Braamfontein at the time.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Cape Town from in 2000 and upon graduation she was awarded the Jules Kramer Award for Fine Arts. With this scholarship Kgomotso pursued her postgraduate studies at Columbia University in New York.

There she perfected her skills under the tutelage of Tony Award-winner Andrei Serban and LAMDA-trained voice teacher Kristin Linklater.  She earned her M.F.A (Performing Arts) in 2004 and continued to live and work in the US and UK until 2008.

Kgomotso had guest roles in numerous television series including Madam & Eve, SOS and Backstage (all on and on the SABC2 sitcom Moferefere Lenyalong. She has appeared in a number of theatre productions including Romeo & Juliet, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet and Dr. Faustus.

Kgomotso has acted in the films Stray Bullet and Boesman & Lena, and appeared in a number of television commercials for clients such as Vodacom, DStv and CNA. Her role in 4Play was her first starring role on television.  She joined Isidingo as Katlego Sibeko in June 2011 when the Sibeko family were introduced into the show. She left the show in April 2016.
