Career

Carmen is a proficient belly dancer and music instructor. She followed in her father’s footsteps career, though in a different capacity. Prior to starting her belly dancing career, she was featured in the backdrop of her father’s track, The Ocean which became a hit music stand in 1972. It was later disclosed that two lines in the lyrics of The Ocean were devoted to Carmen.

Carmen grew an interest in dancing from a young age and helped by her parents, she went on to study tap, jazz, and ballet dancing. Nevertheless, she eventually found her thing after learning belly dancing. According to her, the motivation she was attracted to belly dancing was because of its debauchery, such as the special way in which it honors the female form.

She went to study belly dancing under the tutoring of Serena Ramzy, Hossam Ramzy’s wife and prominent figure in the genre. Ramzy served in Page group and Robert Plant’s No Quarter Middle Eastern orchestra. Since then, Carmen has trained with some notable belly dancers worldwide.
