Sunday’s September 25, 2022, NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at Texas Motor Speedway took a scary turn when Cody Ware’s car crashed hard into the outside wall between Turns 3 and 4.
The one-car incident occurred on Lap 168 during Stage 2 of the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 500.
Ware’s car made contact with the wall at high speed and then was pushed out onto the middle of the track. Ware was unable to regain control of the car as it barreled down the pit road.
Cody Ware was treated and released from the Texas Motor Speedway infield care center on Sunday following an accident on lap 168 of the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500.
He is an American professional auto racing driver. A third-generation driver with experience in a stock car, sports cars, and open-wheel racing, he is the son of NASCAR team owner Rick Ware.
He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 51 Ford Mustang for family team Rick Ware Racing.
