Noel Fitzpatrick works as an Associate Professor at the University of Florida School of Veterinary Medicine. He is also a Professor and founding member of Orthopaedics in the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Surrey.

Noel Fitzpatrick had obtained his Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine from University College Dublin, in 1990. He was awarded the UCD Alumni Award for veterinary medicine in November 2014. Noel Fitzpatrick made history in 2009 as the first veterinary surgeon in the world to successfully apply an amputation prosthesis (PerFiTS) to a cat named Oscar who had lost both hind feet in an accident.

Noel Fitzpatrick was honoured with recognition by Guinness World Records in 2014 for being the first veterinary surgeon to conduct that operation (PerFiTS). He skyrocketed to fame in 2014 after he became the subject of the Channel 4 television series The Supervet which continues to run.

Noel Fitzpatrick was also the subject of the 2010 BBC documentary television series The Bionic Vet which focused on his work at Fitzpatrick Referrals.
