According to a source confirmed by Kyle Tucker of The Athletic, Kentucky will hire K.T. Turner, the associate head coach at the University of Oklahoma, to fill the assistant coaching void left by Jai Lucas in late April.
Kentucky’s basketball program suffered a setback earlier this year when Duke hired assistant coach Jai Lucas. The team, on the other hand, filled that hole on Tuesday.

According to Kyle Tucker of The Athletic, Sooners associate head coach K.T. Turner is leaving O.U. for a position on John Calipari’s staff at Kentucky. After coaching at Texas and SMU, Turner took a job at Oklahoma on April 16, 2021, to join Porter Moser’s inaugural staff in Norman.
Turner’s value was well recognized at his hire as a significant recruiter in Texas, but he wasn’t with the Sooners long enough for O.U. to grasp the potential long-term benefits.
Turner joined Calipari’s staff in Lexington after serving as an associate head coach at Texas and SMU. He’s coached at the college level for 16 years.
Turner was a standout player at Oklahoma City University, as he led the Stars to regular-season and tournament titles in the Sooner Athletic Conference in 2002. After playing his first two years at Hutchinson Community College under Jankovich and his junior season at UT-Arlington, he transferred to OCU. After finishing his collegiate career before becoming a coach, Turner played professionally with Benneton Treviso in Italy from 2002 to 2005.
