He is the long-term boxing coach of Manny Pacquiao, five-time and four-division world champion Miguel Cotto, former WBC middleweight champion Julio César Chávez Jr., three-time world champion James Toney, former UFC middleweight and three-time welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.

Freddie Roach was a dominant force in the New England amateur and AAU ranks as a teenager.

Roach made his pro debut in 1978 as a lightweight and won his first ten fights. Roach trained under Eddie Futch and went 26-1 before competing in a historic match on June 11, 1982, at the Boston Garden.

Roach, who was known for his ability to take a barrage of punches, began showing early signs of Parkinson’s disease late in his career.

Freddie Roach would go on to lose five of his final six fights before retiring at the age of 26. His highest pay was $7,500.
