What Happened To Benjamin Mendy? Benjamin has been refused bail once more ahead of his trial on charges of sexual assaults. Let’s learn more about his status quo here. 

Mendy, 27, has been in detention for the last seven weeks since his arrest in late August and was not present in person for his bail hearing at Chester county court. He is on remand at HMP Altcourse near Liverpool.

The media was barred from the session before Judge Patrick Thompson, but a court officer announced the outcome of the bail application after the hearing.

On August 26, Mendy was charged with three counts of rape in connection with an alleged occurrence in October 2020 and the sexual assault of a lady in early January this year.

The France international has been detained for over seven weeks, with a trial date set for January 24.

A Manchester City defender, Benjamin Mendy, has been charged with four rape and one count of sexual assaults.

Between October 2020 and August 2021, Benjamin is accused of assaulting three women in Cheshire residence.

Louis Saha Matturie, 40, of Salford, was also charged with four counts of rape at Chester Crown Court.

Both individuals were remanded in jail without being required to make a plea.

At the November hearing, Mr Mendy’s lawyer, Eleanor Laws QC, indicated an attempt to dismiss the allegations.

At his home address in Prestbury, he allegedly assaulted three separate ladies, one of them being a minor.

During the 45-minute hearing, Mr Mendy only spoke to confirm his identity and winked at a guy in the public gallery as he was taken back down to the cells.

He was denied bail last month and is now being held in HMP Altcourse in Liverpool on remand.

After being charged by police, the club has suspended Mendy.
